In the fall of 2009 Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer. She took three months off from her work as a yoga instructor to do everything possible to save her own life. Lisa met with teams of doctors, decided on a team in Chapel Hill and began a journey of healing. Her friends formed a support group to assist her with meals, chores, rides & you name it. After Lisa's surgery the chemo treatments began during the month of December 2009 right before Christmas. In the spring of 2010 she has continued on her journey and made it through her chemo treatments. One final chemo treatment ending in May marks another victory. The last phase that she will travel down involves radiation treatment. Meanwhile the astronomical hospital bills have been arriving in the mail. Lisa has been back to work some part-time out of necessity. A benefit dubbed Lisapalooza was organized for May 2, 2010 to help pay her hospital and doctor expenses. |
